This presentation will provide an overview of the Supported Decision-Making Act (Public Act 102-0614) that becomes effective February 2022. Under the Act, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can name a supporter to assist with decisions in identified areas of their lives such as assisting with finances, finding a place to live, medical decisions, educational decisions, finding work, etc. Supported decision-making is considered an alternative to guardianship for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who maintain a range of decision-making capacity, need some assistance with decisions and have not been determined to need a guardian by a court. The presentation will also review the contents of a Supported Decision-Making Agreement and provide examples of how supported decision-making works.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
